Job Description
We’re hiring a part-time education ambassador to support community education initiatives in Niagara Falls.
In an effort to make our roads safer for all, GObike is looking for help working with Niagara Falls communities to increase awareness of safe road use for all users. Methods for public education and awareness will primarily consist of workshops on safe cycling, bicycle friendly driving, mobile bicycle repair, group bike rides and on-bike demonstrations of safe riding techniques.
This position reports to the Education Director.
Key responsibilities include:
Support the Education Director in community outreach, scheduling workshops, and maintaining participation data.
Present GObike’s education workshops and materials to various community groups
Work individually and with other instructors to implement Gobike’s education workshops.
Safely lead groups of participants on bicycle rides through local neighborhoods.
Make workshops and activities fun!
The GObike education ambassador should have:
Experience and/ or comfort teaching, leading groups and/or public speaking
Basic knowledge of traffic and bicycle rules and regulations (training available)
Comfort using Microsoft office and web-based file systems (i.e., Google Suite)
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Demonstrated ability to work across racial, ethnic, gender, class and ability differences
Personal commitment to active transportation (biking, walking, and transit)
Enthusiasm to come to work and make a difference in Niagara Fall
Ability to manage their time across multiple projects
The position term is April to October 2020. The position is for 20 hours a week and the applicants should expect to work a variable schedule, depending on the timing of activities, workshops, and presentations, including nights and weekends, as needed. Compensation is $15 dollars an hour.
