Kickoff the start of Western New York’s outdoor bicycling season with a party Saturday to celebrate the upcoming SkyRide.
The fifth annual SkyRide on May 20 will have an expanded route, including the 100-foot-high Skyway, Kensington Expressway, Route 198 along Scajaquada Creek and Niagara Street. A post-ride festival at LaSalle Park will follow.
“Through this experience, our goal is to create a dialogue about the future of these corridors and unite our community through a shared vision,” Justin Booth, executive director of GObike Buffalo, said in a news release.
Saturday’s launch party will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at Flying Bison Brewing, 840 Seneca St., and includes discounted SkyRide registration, indoor racing by Campus WheelWorks and merchandise sales. Admission is $5.
SkyRide, a fundraiser for GObike, is sponsored by Independent Health, M&T Bank, The Buffalo News and Flying Bison.
