Congratulations Erie County!

At our December 7 Solstice Soiree celebration, we honored multiple individuals and one organization for their contributions to creating a city and region that is healthier, more active, more connected, cleaner, more connected, and sustainable.

One such organization was Erie County, who won our annual award for Most Bike-Friendly Employer.

Erie County has been a GO Buffalo Niagara member for two years. They work with our team to develop enticing and accommodating ways to get their employees to work or job sites more sustainably, either through carpooling, riding transit, walking, rolling, or biking – or all of the above.

Their Department of Environment and Planning and Green Team are working with us to understand and address their workforce’s transportation needs and challenges:

* The County provides employees amenities that are rare to find in Buffalo including free secure indoor bike parking as well as showers
* Their team has a growing Employee Commuter Committee that meets quarterly to work on inspiring others around active and sustainable transportation
* In 2024, they’ve got big plans for free Reddy Bikeshare memberships for employees, Bike to Work programs, and more.

It’s as simple as that. That’s all it takes to make your workplace more attractive to work at, and more sustainable in our region.

Congratulations Erie County! And thank you, Josh Wilson, Sustainability Director, for the kind words:
