Hamburg Moves: Active Mobility Action Plan

Overview & Scope

Beginning in October 2022, GObike kicked off a planning process to develop an Active Mobility Action Plan in direct partnership with the Town of Hamburg.

At GObike, we envision a happy, healthy, and connected region where every person is able to safely and easily get where they need and want to go—no matter how they choose to get there. We believe the success of our transportation system is measured by how well it connects people to jobs, healthcare and other basic needs. And, unequivocally, we believe everyone has a right to feel comfortable and safe from traffic violence in their neighborhood.

Building from our platform, the effort to develop an Active Mobility Action Plan for the Town of Hamburg, including the Village of Hamburg and Village of Blasdell, must involve and empower community stakeholders. Through this effort, we will work to simultaneously educate citizens on the project and its goals, while also ensure that citizen input directly informs the action plan and resulting strategies.

GObike’s scope of work for the Hamburg Moves Active Mobility Action Plan project includes the following activities:

  1. Outreach and Engagement
    • Hosting up to 3 public workshops
    • Developing project website
    • Utilizing online surveys, maps and social media to engage the community and collect input
  2. Active Mobility Action Plan Development
    • Leading exercises to identify priority projects
    • Drafting template Complete Streets policy
    • Providing a final report with strategies and funding recommendations
  3. Healthy Streets Initiative
    • Develop up to 3 preliminary design options
    • Implement a temporary project

A majority of our students are neighborhood kids and absolutely love Bike to School day. I am so happy that we were part of this.
