Shoreline Trail Impasse Reopens

The shoreline trail has reopened again, at last, near the GM plant, just south of River Grill in Tonawanda.

The path, which has been closed for five months due to water line repairs, has finally reopened. While the Shoreline Trail is under management of Erie County, this portion of the trail is owned by the adjacent GM Tonawanda Engine plant.

We'd like to thank everyone who took time to reach out to Erie County Department of Parks and GM Tonawanda Engine to express displeasure in the closure. A new process has been established which will encourage better communication between trail management groups and community groups like GObike and Niagara River Greenway Commission better informed of trail blockages and closures.

Your voice matters; thanks for using it. Thanks for helping improve our region.
