Slow Streets Buffalo Traffic Calming Competition

Nominate your community for a traffic calming project!

The City of Buffalo is accepting applications from neighborhood groups for their neighborhoods to be considered for a traffic calming project. The program, Slow Streets Buffalo, aims to:

"reduce vehicle speeds in targeted neighborhood zones of residential, low-volume streets. The program emphasizes the implementation of permanent traffic calming measures that increase safety and promote walkable, bikeable communities."

Two to four communities will be selected for a traffic calming project. Criteria for selection include neighborhood zones that:

  • Experience more traffic crashes per mile
  • Are home to higher percentages of children, older adults, & people with disabilities
  • Are home to a higher percentage of workers who bike, walk, or take public transit to work

Applications will be accepted until Monday, September 30.

The application and more information on how to apply can be found here.
