For the past 10 years, GObike Buffalo and Massachusetts Avenue Project have hosted Tour de Farms, an annual ride to urban and rural farms, farm markets, and local food distributors, ending with a food celebration. This unique event allowed folks from across the region and beyond to sample and tour our budding urban farm ecosystem.
Dozens of farms, hundreds of participants, a herd of alpacas, and a shout out in Food and Wine magazine later, we have elected to end this event to allow our organizations to better focus on what we do best—improving local food and transportation networks for our community. Both GObike Buffalo and MAP have been moving in new and exciting directions as a result of strategic planning. As we each explore different opportunities, we agreed this was a good year to retire the event in its current iteration.
We’d like to thank our participants who helped us celebrate local farming in the region each year, some of whom rode many miles costumed as bees, chickens, tilapia, and vegetables.
The continuous and generous support of our event sponsors, including Rich Products, who hosted registration and breakfast each year, Independent Health and the Buffalo News were pivotal to event success and we thank you for your support.
Thank you to the many farmers, farm markets, and local food businesses who participated throughout the past decade, opening their gates to our riders, particularly the Oles Family Farm who hosted the farm dinner for nine years.
Thanks to Jim Guarino and Rick Mills for cooking every year, rain or shine, and to the Outer Circle Orchestra for their lively after-party music.
Please stay up-to-date with both of our organizations:
