The Outreach Specialist will support GO Buffalo Niagara, a program of GObike and our region’s Transportation Management Association (TMA). The GO Buffalo Niagara program (GOBN) is part of our ongoing commitment to promote connected and sustainable communities through active and shared mobility options. GOBN is a key program of GObike that works to reduce the number of single occupancy vehicles on the road and the problems they cause including pollution, crashes, and valuable space and resources lost to parking. GOBN serves commuters, residents, employers, businesses, developers, schools, and other institutions to promote transit, carpool, walking, and biking, and other forms of active and sustainable transportation across Erie and Niagara Counties.

GO Buffalo Niagara Outreach Specialist

 

Job Description

The GO Buffalo Niagara Outreach Specialist is a part-time position whose responsibility is to support the development and implementation of strategies that promote active and sustainable travel options throughout the region. This position reports to the GO Buffalo Niagara Program Manager and has the opportunity to grow into a full-time position within 6-12 months.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Administration of the Guaranteed Ride Program, Commuter Rewards, Bike to Work Day, and other transportation-related programs.
  • Performing communications work including presentations, social media, newsletter creation, and website updates.
  • Planning and implementing onsite events, promotions, and marketing activities (e.g., tabling, presentations, etc.) at partner sites to promote all mobility options.
  • Conducting surveys, collecting data, and creating reports for transportation programs and projects.
  • Serving as a transportation coordinator for worksites, organizations, properties, and commuters including the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC) and other partners.
  • Supporting the Program Manager in establishing new and managing existing partner/client relationships with employers, developers, event planners, and stakeholders.
  • Support commuters through one-on-one transportation consultation sessions and follow documentation
  • Tracking participation in commuter programs and assisting with monthly program-related reporting processes.
  • Maintaining contact lists including updating mailing lists as new contacts are collected.

 

Qualifications

This position requires a combination of skills, experience, and education including, but not limited to the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing/business/communications or urban planning/public administration or related field
  • Minimum two (2) years paid work experience in a professional setting related to customer service, sales/marketing, or office administration.
  • Ability to collaborate and engage with community members and organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across racial, ethnic, gender, class, and ability differences.
  • Capability of working independently with minimal supervision and managing time across multiple projects.
  • Confidence in public speaking and presentations.
  • Skill in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs.
  • Experience using video-conferencing tools.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office and web-based file systems (i.e., Google Suite).
  • Fluency in Canva and WordPress.
  • Experience commuting actively/sustainably using transit, walking, biking, carpooling, etc.

 

This position is for 30 hours a week, starting as soon as possible. The Outreach Specialist should expect to work a variable monthly schedule. The position will typically work weekdays but may be scheduled for evening/weekend activities with advance notice. The position offers a hybrid schedule with regular office hours at GObike’s headquarters (313 Broadway).

 

  • Pay: $23-25/hour, commensurate with experience
