City Council establishes bicycle and pedestrian advisory board to review on-going city projects


2007

Rusty Chain with Flying Bison Brewery

Launched Rusty Chain with Flying Bison Brewery and initiated Buffalo’s Bicycle parking program

GObike Buffalo Bike Racks Installed

Green Options Buffalo

Green Options Buffalo is formed through a group of citizens to improve access and safety for pedestrians, bicyclists and transit users

Complete streets

Successfully advocate the CIty of Buffalo to pass NYS’s first Complete Streets ordinance

First Annual Tour de Farms

GObike Buffalo partnered with Massachusetts Avenue Project to host the first Tour de Farms, a urban and rural tour of Buffalo's farms


2010

501c3 Non-Profit Corporation

Through the support of Independent Health incorporates as a 501-c-3 non-profit corporation


2011

Safe Routes To School

Create Buffalo’s Safe Routes to School Program to encourage more kids to walk and bike to school

Sharrows Arrive

The first shared lane markings were installed on Connecticut Street


2012

Complete Streets Coalition

Launched the Complete Streets Coalition and developed a campaign to make all streets safe for all users

First Counterflow Bike Lanes in Buffalo

The City of Buffalo installs the first counterflow bike lanes with a dedicated bicycle signal


2013

Bicycle Master Plan Update

Began effort to update the City of Buffalo’s bicycle master plan with 10 miles of new facilities planned per year

Delaware Avenue Road Diet

Delaware Avenue is put on a diet, with bike lanes and high visibility crosswalks installed


2014

Skyride

Launched the skyride taking cyclists over the skyway for the first time in history


2015

Complete Streets Impact Assessment

Implemented a study on the impact of Complete Streets to encourage continued public investment

Enhanced Visibility Bike Lanes

First enhanced-visibility green pavement bike lanes installed on Delaware Avenue S-curves


2016

Bike Master Plan

Worked with the City of Buffalo to create a city-wide network for bicycle infrastructure

Bikeshare in Buffalo

Buffalo's first citywide bike share program, Reddy Bikeshare, launches with 200 bikes and 35 stations


Travel with Care Campaign

Launched a City-wide Travel with Care campaign encouraging safe interactions between motorists and cyclists, reaching an audience of more than 1 million people

Buffalo Green Code Approved

City of Buffalo approves the Buffalo Green Code, an updated land use and zoning policy focused on enhancing walkability, bikability, and access for Buffalo citizens of all abilties
